Have You Moved?
Please contact Stacey Benson at sbenson@murrayschools.org to update your address. If you’ve moved into the district you need to bring in proof of residence (two forms).
Living in the city of Murray doesn’t always mean you are a resident of the Murray School District. To determine your residency and which school your student should attend, please use our online tool to see if your home is within the Murray School District’s boundaries.
If you have moved out of the district and wish to remain at MHS you need to obtain a non-resident permit. Please visit the Murray School District registration page for permit information.

Students and parents are responsible for monitoring attendance closely. Attendance can be tracked online through the Aspire SIS program.
Absences should be excused through the attendance office within 5 days of the absence and follow guidelines as outlined in the policy PD below. Students must check out through the attendance office when leaving school resulting in class time being missed. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence(s) require Canvas module completion or detention.
Please carefully read the full attendance policy, and the full citizenship policy. Thank you for your cooperation.
Attendance Policy
Students who miss school for an entire day for any cause must have their parent/guardian call the school to excuse the full-day absence within five school days following the full-day absence. Failure to have a full-day absence excused will result in an unexcused absence and subsequent consequences.
Legitimate absences are defined by the Murray City Board of Education as:
- Personal illness of pupil (principal may require a note from a valid physician)
- Serious illness or death of a member of the family
- Grave emergencies demanding the help of the pupil at home
- Unavoidable delays or failure of transportation
- Other circumstances that in the judgment of the principal constitute a justifiable absence from school and for which arrangements have been made with the principal in advance
Attendance Codes
Attendance codes are used by Aspire to show how often students have been tardy, absent, etc…
X = Unexcused absence
E = Excused absence
C = Check in/out or hospital
T = Tardy
S = Sluff
D = Doctor’s note
V = Pre-approved vacation
2 = Arrived more than 10 minutes late (unexcused absence)
Q = Home

Finance Office Information
- Students need to be in class during school hours. Therefore, the financial secretary will not be available during class hours.
- Students should make all payments to the financial office. Teachers/coaches should NOT take money from students. A receipt will be given for each transaction and should be saved for one year. The receipts will provide a reference for what the student has paid during the school year as well as provide proof of purchase for the yearbook at the end of the year. It is the student’s responsibility to check the receipt for accuracy of name and amount.
- Students that are involved in more than one activity need to specify in which account the money should be deposited. Money deposited from a fund-raiser CANNOT be transferred from one account to another (example: cheer to choir).
- Students who are making purchases for clubs or teams must fill out a purchase order request form and have it signed by the advisor/coach. The advisory/coach will turn in the purchase order request form to the financial office. If the request is approved by the principal, a school purchase order will be returned to the advisor/coach.
- The financial office cannot cash checks or make change for students. Also, checks must be made for the exact amount. The financial secretary cannot give cash back on checks written over the amount.
- All fees, once paid, are nonrefundable
- Fines that are not paid prior to a student leaving Murray High School (checking out to attend another school) or by the end of the school year may be turned over to a collection agency.
- Fees and fines must be cleared in order to participate in graduation ceremonies.
