MHS Tennis Dominates at Panther Slam!

After a dominant weekend, the Murray Boys Tennis team returned from the March 20-21 Panther Slam at Pineview High School in St. George with a 1st place team trophy, a bunch of hardware, and an undefeated season record of 9-0. In addition to the 1st place team trophy, Murray took home Gold Medals in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd singles, and 1st doubles (all going 5-0 during the tournament), along with a Bronze Medal in 2nd doubles.
Herriman High School finished in a distant second place, with Pineview High taking third out of eight teams.
Varsity Results:
1st Singles - Zach McRae easily cruised to the championship round, beating Ariel Shukrun of Cedar Valley in the final, 8-2.
2nd Singles - Joshua Sheffield dominated throughout the tournament, ultimately defeating Juan Meza from Herriman in the final round, 8-1.
3rd Singles - Dallin Rubalcava also went undefeated, capping off the tournament with an 8-4 victory over Trevyn King of Pineview to take home the gold.
1st Doubles - Cameron Marchant and Graham Nelson were equally flawless, picking up an 8-3 championship win over Pineview's 1st Doubles team of Caleb Schmitt and Spencer Watkins.
2nd Doubles - Preston Marshall and Taylor Fedderson bounced back from an earlier loss to Cedar Valley, getting revenge in the Bronze Medal round with an 8-4 victory over Boston Fitzgerald and Chad Marinos.
JV Results:
The JV Panther slam was held at Hurricane High School and included 32 doubles teams. Murray High entered 4 doubles teams - all finishing in the top 10. McKay Andrew and Emmett Harmon made it to the championship, taking home a Silver Medal. Nathan Hegsted and Craig Sanders finished in 5th place, Ryan Jensen and Henry Putnam were 6th, and Easton Murray and Miles Trahan took 9th.
